Matched with an obstetrician
You are matched with an available obstetrician. You continue to see your GP in your first trimester.
8-13 weeks
Unless your GP advises otherwise, your first obstetrician appointment will be at this point.
You will receive a morphology referral.
Begins at 16 weeks
Know Your Midwife (KYM) program starts at 16 weeks at Greenslopes Private Hospital (where available) or see your obstetrician.
20 weeks
Visit your obstetrician with your completed morphology scan.
24 weeks
Visit your obstetrician + receive your GTT referral and Boostrix vaccination.
28 weeks
Visit your obstetrician.
Begins at 30 weeks
Know Your Midwife (KYM) program starts at 30 weeks at Greenslopes Private Hospital (where available) or see your obstetrician.
33 weeks
Visit your obstetrician (twice depending on clinic scenario).
36 weeks
Visit your obstetrician (twice depending on clinic scenario).
37 weeks
Visit your obstetrician (twice depending on clinic scenario).
38 weeks
Visit your obstetrician (twice depending on clinic scenario).
39 weeks
Visit your obstetrician (twice depending on clinic scenario).
40 weeks

You're almost there!
Visit your obstetrician weekly as required.
Postnatal support
The Greenslopes Maternity Well Baby Clinic will provide you with support and assistance after delivery. The clinic is run by experienced professionals who can assist with: infant feeding, infant care & nutrition, growth & development, and baby routines.
6 weeks after birth
Visit your obstetrician six weeks after the baby is born for a checkup.
Exceptional level of care
Jelly Bean Maternity gives you access to excellent private obstetrics care in Greenslopes by experienced, independent Brisbane obstetricians. Their reduced pregnancy management fee is affordable and transparent, bridging the gap between public and private cate.
Low obstetrician fees
With Medicare and eligible obstetrics cover with a private health fund, you will pay an out-pocket fee of $2,000*, for which you will receive:
- Approximately 15 antenatal visits with an obstetrician
- Some in-rooms ultrasounds
- One postnatal appointment
- A friendly and caring team of support staff who will enjoy sharing your pregnancy experience with you
Other costs that are not part of the service can or may include:
- Screening for Down syndrome or other chromosomal issues
- Delivery and stay at Greenslopes Private Hospital
- Anaesthetic service for epidural or caesarean
- Paediatric service when your baby is born
- Ultrasounds outside-of–rooms
- Pathology
*Conditions apply with some private health funds
Pregnancy journey
No two pregnancies are the same. Your pregnancy management plan depends on your individual history and health, as well as the progress of your growing baby. However, there are certain checkups and appointments that are standard for a normal pregnancy, and these are all included in your out-of-pocket fee with Jelly Bean Maternity. They are:
- Fortnightly obstetric visits between 28 and 36 weeks
- Weekly visits from 36 weeks onwards
- A postnatal visit when your baby is six weeks old
Please note other screening and tests that you may need to arrange through your GP which will incur a cost may include:
- Initial tests and ultrasound in the first month
- Morphology ultrasound at 18-20 weeks
- Gestational diabetes screening test after 20 weeks
